he Academy Dance Club began in Huntington, WV in 1990 to perpetuate and preserve traditionalal ballroom dancing and serve the social and dancing needs of the students of The Academy of Ballroom Dance, Ltd., a ballroom studio owned and operated by Tom Cyrus and Becky Richardson.

 

          Member Designed  The Club is no longer associated with the parent dance studio. Today, The Academy is a non-profit organization run by an Executive Board made up of Club members.

          Executive Board  Dances, picnics, and other activities are planned by an elected board of officers.

          Member Participation  All members are encouraged to serve on the board, help with various committees and participate fully in all activities of the club.

ach year The Academy Dance Club sponsors several major dances and a picnic. This year, five dances are planned.  Other social and dancing activities are determined by the Executive Board.

 

          Facilities  Academy dances are held in the finest facilities available.  Fine food, tasteful surroundings, and fine fellowship are all a part of the Academy experience.

 

          Music  Music for the Academy dances is always suitable for traditional ballroom dancing.  Our bands play for dancers. Whether it be tango, foxtrot, swing, or samba our members expect the best.

  

          Friends  The Academy welcomes new members. An Academy dance is something for friends to share.
